Religion & Faith Policy
Aotearoa New Zealand was founded on the Judeo/Christian religion and is a Christian nation. We live in a multicultural society which means there are many cultures and faiths living alongside each other. According to the national census, we have approx. 1.7million people who associate with a faith religion.

- No one shall be subject to coercion which would impair his freedom to have or to adopt a religion or belief of his choice.
- Limitation of religious freedoms when they contravene New Zealand law.
- We support and respect the right for the liberty of parents and, when applicable, legal guardians to ensure the religious and moral education of their children in conformity with their own convictions.
