Freedom of Free Speech Policy

Treating others the way we would like to be treated ourselves is a foundational principle for a healthy society. ONE Party will protect the rights and freedom of all citizens, from every ethnic background, age group, sector, and gender to be heard and to peacefully protest on matters where citizens feel that the basic tenets of the law are being breeched by government or other sectors of the community.

We will protect the right of groups and individuals to speak out on behalf of the most vulnerable citizens in our community when their rights are being breeched and they are not able to speak for themselves.

There is no justification for closing off discussion of ideas, or opinions, no matter how offensive or disagreeable those ideas or opinions may be. We believe it is a fundamental human right to exercise freedom of speech.

    1. ONE Party supports Section 14 of the NZ Bill of Rights Act 1990 (BORA) which states that everyone has the right to freedom of expression, including the right to seek, receive, and impart information and opinions of any kind.
    2. ONE Party is committed to protect, defend, and promote the rights of all citizens to have the freedom to hold their own opinions and to express them freely without government interference.
    3. ONE Party supports the freedom and right ‘to agree to disagree’ even when those opinions are unwelcome, disagreeable, or even offensive.

Freedom is our inheritance! ONE Party believes that freedom of speech is worth protecting and defending.
